iRobot Roomba 694"
The Roomba 694 from iRobot is a robot vacuum for entry-level use that performs well on both bare floors and low-pile carpet. It has a decent suction and can clean most debris, however it has trouble with larger debris like sand or rice. It also does a good job of removing pet hair, but it's not resistant to tangling like the premium Roomba models, such as the j7 or I6.
The Roomba is easy to operate. It has three buttons on its top cover. "Clean," which launches a cleaning session, 'Dock,' which places it in its charging station and "Spot," which initiates the targeted cleaning. You can control it via a smartphone application that allows you to schedule cycles, stop/start them, and alter settings. You can also pair the device with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant to control it by voice commands.
This vacuum is slower than other models, but it's still able to reach the majority of crevices and corners. It comes with a large dust bin, which is great for reducing the frequency with the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which lets you program the robot to stay out of certain areas or stop cleaning completely to stop it from becoming stuck.
While it's not the best model for its price but it's far superior to other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694, with superior cleaning performance for carpets that are low and bare. It also has a more durable battery and a better path. It is also more robust, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, and costs less over its lifetime and charges faster than 694.
It's also worth looking at other, more premium models from the iRobot range, such as the 981 or the v7. The v7 and 981 are more expensive, but have significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment, charge faster, move more easily and are more a breeze to pair with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on low-pile carpet and hard floors. Its combinator brush gets to the edges and corners and it automatically increases suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt embedded in carpets that are mid-pile. The IQ has a tiny footprint and has a self-emptying feature. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or set no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it in order to do so, which is somewhat of a hassle.
The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated features, however it does not have no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. Its intelligent-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, although it does have a tendency to get caught up in rug tassels, and its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests, we observed that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to get rid of a large amount of debris on bare floors and a decent amount on medium-pile rug. It was a little less effective on shag carpet, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It was able to maneuver chair legs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on flooring that was not fully covered, but it recovered speed and performed better than other robots we evaluated.
The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dustbin, a longer battery life and is better in navigating around obstacles. It also has a mopping attachment that can deal with sticky debris. On the other hand the iRobot is built better and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance and has lower recurring costs and can even create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off even if the battery is out before it finishes. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S eufy robot vacuum isn't among the most advanced models, but it does offer powerful cleaning power at an affordable price. This vacuum was designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot can run for a long time and includes an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, and features a tempered-glass upper deck that resembles brushed aluminum. It's a nice stylistic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests to remove larger debris and fine dust from hard flooring. However, it struggled to provide medium and high pile carpets an effective deep clean. The device has a tendency of bumping into people and furniture in its course. However, it is able to detect these obstacles using sensors. It ceases and emits a loud noise when it encounters an obstruction. Then, you can manually guide the device around it to restart it.
The BoostIQ mode is another great feature of the Eufy11S. It lets you set the robot up to automatically adjust the suction strength based on the floor type and the amount of the mess. The remote control makes it easy to guide the 11S to the desired area.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the room you'd like to vacuum. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that reduces the time that is spent on each area to a maximum of 20 minutes. This will extend the battery's life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also exceptional on floors that are not bare. It can pick up small particles such as rice easily and it doesn't suffer from suction power even when its dirt bin fills. Its design is a breathable one and its air-sealed body traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin, so you don't need additional filters or vacuum bags.
It's not as effective as the more expensive models, but it's great for deep cleaning and taking on stains. Two front cameras provide live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it has one of the best obstacles-avoiding systems we've seen. It has a large bin, an extended runtime and an easy, bump-free clean-up.
Contrary to other robots the Complete C1 can switch between two powerheads, a standard one and a turbo head to accommodate different floor types. It comes with five different adjustments to the surface and an off-brush switch to avoid hairs getting caught in knots.
The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll and the UtraClean Mode that can clean the same area up to three times, and website a self emptying dustbin that can be emptied by pressing a single button. The sound level of this model is more pronounced than other models. However its powerful motor with 1,200 watts of power and durable construction make it worth the additional cost.
If you're willing a little more, the Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It is more efficient on all floors and feels more sturdy and comes with an HEPA filter.
